Kashmiri Crewel Table Runner — Hand Embroidered Floral Textile in Cotton & Wool
Wool thread pulled through cotton by hand, stitch by stitch, in a workshop in Srinagar. A table runner with the weight and detail of a textile that took days to make — because it did.
What It Is
This crewel embroidered table runner is hand-stitched using traditional Kashmiri chain stitch technique. Wool thread on a natural cotton base, building dense floral patterns with real depth and texture. At 145 × 44 cm, it sits well on a dining table for six, a console, or a long sideboard.
Craft & Material
Crewel embroidery is one of Kashmir's defining textile traditions. A hook needle pulls wool thread through cotton fabric in an interlocking chain stitch — slow, precise, and entirely done by hand. Our runners come from a family workshop in Srinagar we've worked with for years. No two pieces are identical. The slight irregularities in the stitching are not flaws — they're the fingerprint of the artisan.
In Your Home
Centred on a dining table with ceramics and candlelight. Draped across a wooden console in an entryway. Layered over a dresser in the bedroom. The cotton base lies flat and the wool embroidery adds just enough weight to keep it in place without clips.
