The Story of a Traditional "Namda":

Himalayan sheep wool sourced from the mountains of Kashmir undergoes a meticulous process. It is collected, cleaned, and dyed before being spread evenly in woolen flakes on a jute mat (with a minimum of 3 layers, like a sandwich). The mat is then rolled tightly and compressed by rolling it on the floor using hands and feet for an extended duration. The resulting plain Namda is then dry-washed by local women and finally hand-embroidered with Aari (needle hook) using traditional floral designs, though geometric and modern designs are also possible.
